The Season So Far…

Friday 23rd of October 2015
Once I arrive back from my winter away in Dubai it is a case of getting back into yards to ride out for trainers, with the hope of getting the leg up on some of their horses. In Dubai I rode out quite a lot for Mark Johnston, so it was his Kingsley House stables that were my first port of call. I have made a few visits to Chepstow this season to...More

You should've seen the one that got away!

Wednesday 1st of April 2015
For those of you out there who wondered what I get up to on my days off in Dubai, well I'm about to tell you. The sun tan didn't need topping up before we ventured home so me and some mates decided to go and do a bit of deep see fishing. Boy oh boy are there some serious fish out there, we managed to catch a couple of 'Kingfish' as you can see. The...More

Happy New Year to Everyone

Tuesday 13th of January 2015
I've just had a great Christmas with my family in Dubai who all flew over to spend the holiday period with me, we all welcomed the New Year in together whilst watching a spectacular firework display. I love my time in the UAE over the winter but the downside is being apart from my wife and children. While they were over here, it was nice to ride a ...More

A Great Start to the Dubai Season

Wednesday 19th of November 2014
The season in the Emirates is now well underway and I'm pleased to say that I have had a great start. I've been riding for many different trainers and thankfully I rewarded their faith with a few winners. In the opening fortnight I have had 48 rides, 10 of which have won and a further 17 have been placed so overall I have been delighted with the st...More

On my way back to the UK from my winter in Dubai, I took in a trip to China for the inaugural Chengdu Dubai International Cup raceday. This was the first running of the Chengdu Dubai International Cup raceday, staged as a partnership between the Meydan Group and the Chengdu Municipal Government. It consisted of five turf races and represented a fir...More

May and June Round Up!

Thursday 13th of June 2013
Sorry I've not blogged in a while, I've been so buys riding out for as many trainers as possible to try and get some UK winners on the board. The rides are picking up but sadly the winners are still few and far between. Luckly though on the 20th May at Redcar, I won on a gusty horse for Tracey Waggott. Dark Side was a great ride, and did brilliant...More

First Winner of the UK Season!

Sunday 28th of April 2013
Landed my first win of the UK season today! I'm very pleased to get one on the board and, just like last year, my first win was for Brian Smart. I won on a great filly called Lexington Rose by 1 1/2 length at Ripon in the first. Now I'm off the mark, hopefully the wins will come in thick and fast and this will be the first win of many in the 201...More

The Dubai World Cup 2013

Thursday 11th of April 2013
Today was the big day, and I had two great rides. In the Kahayla Classic, I rode a great filly - Rakha. It was nice to ride on such a big occasion and there was such a great atmosphere. Nothing can beat all the best jockeys, horses, and trainers competing for glory on the highest level. Rakha didn't run as well as she can, and didn't managed to st...More

The Finals of the Championship

Friday 22nd of March 2013
Everything we have been doing boiled down to today. It was the final day of the Championship, and Grandstand Stables were only four winners behind. With a great book of rides planned, everything looked positive for pulling off the big win. In the first, I could only finish in 3rd place on Ukrainian but the team won with Blue Sea. Only 3 behind now...More

Warming up to the big event where I had four rides. In the first - Al Maktoum Challenge - I rode Kerim to finish in 7th. Not a bad run at all, considering she is still a maiden. Glad to be Back in the Saddle

Saturday 2nd of March 2013
I was raring to get back in the saddle after watching the winners from home yesterday. I had two rides in the afternoon, one of which was Universal for trainer Mark Johnson. I haven't had many rides for him the past few seasons, but have had a lot of success with him - notably Dukebox Jury. My second ride of the night was for Sh. Hamdan, another ...More

Watching from the Sofa, not the Saddle

Thursday 28th of February 2013
Today was an unusual one for me! I was left with no rides as The Boss only had 2 runners for Sh. Hamdan who has his own retain jockey, so was left to watch the races unfold on my TV at home. It took me a few minutes to even find the right channel - I'm normally sat in the saddle not on the sofa! I hope this is a one off, that's for sure! Looking...More
