Happy New Year to Everyone

Tuesday 13th of January 2015

I've just had a great Christmas with my family in Dubai who all flew over to spend the holiday period with me, we all welcomed the New Year in together whilst watching a spectacular firework display. I love my time in the UAE over the winter but the downside is being apart from my wife and children. While they were over here, it was nice to ride a winner or two which helped make their days at the races more enjoyable.

Since my last blog I have continued in winning form thankfully and at the time of writing I have just got back to my apartment having ridden another winner, Mushaakis for the boss Ali Rashid Al Raithe at Jebel Ali. He was as easy a winner as I have had in a long time and he was my 23rd winner of the season.

He was my second winner of 2015 with my first coming on my old friend Ukrainian (see photo) at Abu Dhabi on Sunday. Ukrainian was following up his recent win at the same track and I have now won four races on him for the boss.

I have found Al Ain a happy hunting ground as I have managed to boot home eight winners there this season. I've also had five winners at Sharjah, so its a case of so far, so good.

As well as riding winners for the boss Ali Rashid Al Raithe, I have had some luck for a good few outside yards too which has been great.

Ibrahim Al Hadhrami provided me with a few winners at Al Ain last month and Al Mukafih and Zeyad provided me with a double just before Christmas. Zeyad won with great ease in the first leg of the Al Ain Marathon Series by over eight lengths. I thought I was going to complete a treble in the last race of the day on Laamma but having made the running I just lost out on the line.

As mentioned, it was nice to ride some winners when my family visited and on the 27 December we raced at Al Ain where I notched another double courtesy of Murooj and Burj Khalifa. I made all on Murooj, winning by 3 and 1/2 lengths for the boss before completing the double on Burj Khalifa for Salem Al Ketbi. It wasn't as straight forward on that fellow but he showed a good attitude to hold on by a neck.

Here's hoping that 2015 can be a successful year for us all.

All the best.
